Every one of our guests commented on how AMAZING Marry Me Marilyn was, how well she told our story, with guests commenting that they were on the edge of their seats invested in every word Marilyn was saying. We had guests say it was the Best Ceremony they have ever been to, and was just absolutely perfect, which we loved hearing but that is just a credit to Marilyn and how great she is! So if you want just an ordinary Celebrant, then Marilyn is not for you, Marilyn is far, far more than that! When we first came across Marilyn's website we thought she is exactly what we were after, and after our first meeting we knew we were right! Marilyn is more than a Celebrant, she is a love enthusiast, story teller, wedding coach and genuinely invested in you as a couple and our special day! I had numerous back and forth conversations with Marilyn regarding so many things big and small (including postponing our day) and Marilyn was never anything short of accommodating, patient and understanding! We do feel as though we would have been lost without Marilyn and her guidance as it helped us so much along the way with planning our day and also executing our perfect day! Marilyn's tips and tricks come from a wealth of experience which allowed to be across things we may never have thought us. One of these handy tips was all about being present in the moment on the day and controlling our emotions. For someone like me, this was really important as I had a fear of just being an uncontrollable, blubbering mess on the day and not then missing out on the little moments because of it. Early on, Marilyn gave me some advice on what do to, which I implementing after our first meeting with her up until the Wedding day, and what do you know… On the day my emotions were in check and I can recall every little detail about our ceremony, which I may have not been able to if not for Marilyn! For a stressed out couple trying to organise their wedding, managing to be so lucky to have the support of Marilyn made a world of difference. She was able to guide us through the whole process, and she provided us with the comfort and clarity of how everything would be for the ceremony. Marilyn took great care and attention to detail to make A WONDERFUL LOVE STORY ABOUT US, AND IT MADE SURE THAT OUR CEREMONY WAS FILLED WITH HISTORY, LOVE AND LAUGHTER. Marilyn was able to give us so much more than just a great speech - the "stage directions" of where to be, and going through a private rehearsal with her was excellent. Everything looked seamless and the photographers loved it. She was able to suggest a toasting during the ceremony of our favourite drink we had on our first date, and to have a Wooden Wedding Box during our ceremony where love letters we wrote to each other (for our first anniversary) were placed into. These special symbols worked into our history of how we met, and will now be something we carry forward into our marriage forever. I can honestly say that Marilyn has been better than any other celebrant and created a better ceremony than I have ever seen since, and you should have no hesitation in meeting her and creating something magical together. ALL OF OUR GUESTS HAVE SAID that our wedding was without a doubt the BEST WEDDING CEREMONY THEY HAVE EVER BEEN TO, and with many stating MARILYN WAS THE BEST CELEBRANT THEY HAVE EVER SEEN! We will always be grateful to Marilyn for marrying us and for making our wedding day such an unforgettable and amazing experience. From the very first phone conversation we had with Marilyn we knew that there was something special about her compared to all the other celebrants we’d spoken to. Even just on the phone it was impossible not to be impressed by her passion, humour and outgoing nature. And now that our wedding has come and gone, all we can say is that choosing Marilyn to be our celebrant was the best decision we ever made. It’s not just that she has exceptional organisational skills or that her background in theatre production makes her a natural at directing events, but also the fact that she so obviously LOVES what she does and cares deeply about the couples she works with. When we met Marilyn in person it was more like talking to an old friend rather than a celebrant, her bubbly, friendly and relentlessly upbeat personality was even more contagious in person and put us completely at ease. She went out of her way to get to know us (how we met, our interests, backgrounds etc) in order to personalise our wedding as much as possible and to tell our Love Story in a way that was both unique and inspiring. In that first meeting alone we spent more than two hours with her discussing how we pictured our ceremony, what style we were aiming for, what extras she thought would be good. When we finally left for the day we knew in our hearts that she was the celebrant we wanted. Marilyn made what could have been a potentially nerve wracking planning process so relaxed and even fun, and provided invaluable, ongoing support to us from beginning to end. She put together an excellent draft for the ceremony which made it much easier to visualise, and went over the details with us right down to where/how we would be standing. In addition to all of this she also provided us with endless material to help us with writing our vows, and was never too busy to answer our questions or listen to our ideas of how to fine tune the ceremony. When our big day came, it was nothing short of AMAZING with all the work and planning that Marilyn had done paying off beyond all expectations with a seemingly perfect balance of emotion, sentiment and humour. Marilyn put both us and the rest of the wedding party at ease, and the entire ceremony ran smoothly without a hitch. More than that Marilyn captured and held the audience’s attention right from the start, and had them veering between laughter and tears of joy as she told our story, and even while we were lost in the magic of the moment we could tell that our wedding was everything we had dreamed of. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WE WOULD CHANGE ABOUT OUR WEDDING CEREMONY WE LOOK BACK ON OUR WEDDING DAY WITH ABSOLUTE DELIGHT AND WE RECOMMEND MARILYN WHOLEHEARTEDLY TO EVERYONE. My brother, who isn't one for compliments, said me to after the ceremony.. "THAT IS THE BLUEPRINT OF HOW ALL WEDDING CEREMONIES SHOULD BE." To be honest we thought we wouldn't find the right celebrant to marry us in the way we wanted, so we had strongly considered not having one. We thought we would do all the legals at a registration office a month before and then have my brother on the day to act in for us…..that was until we found Marilyn. We had an initial Skype call with her to suss her out and she was just what we were after. She listened to what we wanted, offered just enough advice to guide us along and she thought of all the things we hadn't thought of. HER YEARS OF EXPERIENCE SHONE THROUGH FROM THE BEGINNING. We didn't want the same old stale ceremony, and it was clear she wasn't the same old stale celebrant. She has a magic folder of readings and example vows, great suggestions on the timing of the ceremony and a warmth that made planning the ceremony a breeze. We then arranged to meet her. We got to practice the ceremony and be clear on where and how to stand (awesome help when you are a little nervous and blissed out on your day). We loved her uniqueness, her professionalism and organisation and her attention to detail. Hi Marilyn, Jacob and I wanted to say a big thank you for making our ceremony as beautiful as it was. The ceremony was hands down my most favourite part of the whole day, which is crazy to me, given that walking down the aisle and standing up there in front of everyone was something that seemed so daunting to me. Once I got there I was just so happy and excited to be there it over came any anxiety or worries I had and I just found your presence so calming and felt at ease that I didn’t have to think about anything because you were there to guide us and remind us to take all this in. We have had so many of our guests give us the most amazing feedback about the ceremony. People have been telling us how beautiful the ceremony was and how it was the perfect combination of funny and emotional and completely tailored to us and our story. Quite a few people that never thought they would cry ended up balling. People have also commented on yourself and how amazing your delivery was and that this was the most engaged they have ever felt in a ceremony. My mum was the one who told us the importance of having a good celebrant for the ceremony and she said that you were the best celebrant she’s had to pleasure of watching marry two people. Marilyn was fantastic right from the beginning and we could not have chosen anyone better to be our celebrant. Marilyn drafted a medieval wedding ceremony for us less than a few days after we chose her and was patient with us as we sent drafts back and forth. The result was a collaborative and mind-blowing piece of work that was uniquely us and kept our wedding guests thoroughly engaged. Living in Townsville, we were worried about arranging a wedding in Brisbane. We should not have been worried though. Marilyn initially arranged a Skype call with us so we could meet virtually to discuss the wedding and as the wedding got closer, arranged for us to meet with her at her home when we were visiting Brisbane before the wedding. She also kept in regular email contact through each step of the planning process. All these things truly made it feel that the distance did not matter and it was an amazing feeling knowing that our celebrant was interested and excited for our wedding day as much as we were. Marilyn goes the extra mile. As we were worried about organising someone to play music for the ceremony, she suggested that her husband Marcel could play our play list for us (at a small cost). This turned out to be so easy- we just had to send a list of songs we wanted, and he did the rest. One less thing to worry about, which was greatly appreciated when we were already stressed. She also had recommendations on handfasting cords, how to create our love story, and ways to make the ceremony uniquely us. Marilyn also kindly reminded us to pay the final amount owing that we had somehow overlooked- another thing to keep us on track when we had so much else on. Marilyn further organised our marriage certificate and explained where to start with the name changing process. Her professionalism shone through in these respects. You would think that a celebrant’s work finishes after the wedding- but she has emailed us since to check in to see how we enjoyed our honeymoon. Another example of her going above and beyond. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Marilyn and we are so incredibly thankful for her support, patience, professionalism and interest in us, our wedding and our marriage. The Festival of Love was by far the best weekend of my entire life. To be surrounded by all my favourite people in the world and to marry the man of my dreams, while listening to the best music on the planet in the most perfect surroundings... I never ever wanted to leave, I wanted the Festival of Love to be our world for ever and ever. The Festival of Love was everything I hoped for and more. Such a beautiful and amazing weekend full of all the souls I love best. I will never ever forget it as long as I live. Marilyn thank you so much again for everything you did. You are a gem Marilyn, I honestly can't imagine anyone else that could have been the perfect celebrant for us like you were. When my partner and I started planning our wedding we had absolutely no idea where to search for a celebrant and were wishing we could have one of our friends marry us because we weren't sure where else we would find anyone who would resonate with us as strongly as someone who knew us intimately. It was synchronicity which drew Marilyn to us, and from the moment I contacted her I felt a strong and positive connection with her. Marilyn has all the wonderful qualities that one could possibly hope for in a celebrant... she is warm and friendly, deeply and passionately committed to her work, unique and creative in her approach, and borders on psychic in her ability to understand your needs and meet them. Often as I was thinking of something that we needed or wanted for the ceremony, she would just magically send me an email with exactly what I was thinking of, perfectly woven into the script. She has a beautiful warm heart, and a magical quality that made the whole process of preparing for our wedding extra special, and so so much easier and less stressful than if we were attempting to do it ourselves. Marilyn is also highly professional and shares an abundance of resources with the couples lucky enough to choose her. Basically Marilyn was the PERFECT Celebrant for us, she has a delightful blend of professionalism, magic, warmth, supportiveness and understanding. She is incredibly open minded, offering a smorgasbord of options, beyond anything you thought possible and she has a truly spiritual approach to her work, not just going through the motions, but pouring her heart and soul into the experience. She is by far the best celebrant I have ever seen conduct a wedding ceremony and I just feel so blessed that she was part of the most special day of our lives, in fact she was an integral part of making it the most special day of our lives. Marilyn is like a modern day St. Valentine, she is extremely passionate about love and marriage and this definitely came through in the ceremony she prepared for us. With an incredible knowledge and understanding of rituals and ceremonies from cultures of all over the world, Marilyn was instrumental in making our ceremony so unique, magical, interesting, and heartfelt. Her entwining of our love stories had people in laughter and tears and many of our guests commented on things that she quoted. This showed us that she captured our people whom listened to the entire 45 minute ceremony and really enjoyed it. Overall, from our first meeting, then preparing our ritual, to our actual big moment, Marilyn has been absolutely remarkable.
