I thought I would share my recent website hosting experience with AMC Members.

I have had several versions of my http://www.joyfuloccasions.com.au website for around 20 years.

The original hosting was with Net Registry which was based in Sydney. Net Registry was bought out a couple of times, and is now Webcentral. My annual hosting was up for renewal. Last year I paid $45. This year (April 20-26) i received an invoice for $270 – that’s a 600% increase!

I reached out via the AMC closed Facebook page to see what hosting companies other AMC Celebrant Members use. Kindly Stuart Kemp advised that he uses VentraIP at a cost of $14 a month. So I checked out. I can move my site to them for $66 for the 1st year (Stuart, you could have referred me and got a credit on your account, but I didn’t realise this until I had signed up.

So if anyone wants a referral code, ask Stuart Kemp or myself.

I can update my website myself via WordPress so don’t need the bells and whistles that these hosting sites try to sell you.

Oh! and when I went to transfer from Webscentral, they said I could change to another plan that would only cost $9 a month.

It pays to shop around and do so BEFORE the due date! Best wishes to all Joy
