My celebrant journey started back in 2017 after retiring from my trade as motor mechanic, I needed a profession that was a lot more user friendly  on the body after 40 years of turning tools, the last 28 of those years specialising in the motorcycle industry as well as three years working as a TAFE teacher. To help supplement my income I also went back to my musical roots forming a new band in the same year, I also freelance as a musician for hire, I currently play guitar for ‘Rock Of Nations’ band and ‘Shred In The Shed’ band.

I was associated with the Gold Coast Muso’s Jam from 2014, and became manager and proprietor of the jam from 2018 to the end of 2022. The Jam’s focus was to bring musician’s of all walks of life together, to create a family of like minded souls, the music was always second, the people and friendships came first.

Why did I choose to be a celebrant you may ask. The idea came from my daughter, who at a family wedding said, “Dad, you would be really good at this, you should become a celebrant”. Now this was over 10 years earlier, but the thought was always in the back of my mind.

It is a great honour, and privilege for me to be asked to marry someone, I cannot find the words to describe how it make me feel to be a part of a couples special day, it is something you don’t get to experience in any other profession, and I am blessed that couples have put their faith in me to make their day as easy, and as stress free as possible, to have complete strangers  put their trust in me, to open their hearts and allow me into their lives to help them with the start of a new beginning in their lives as a married couple.

I was lucky enough to marry my best friend, we have four children, all adults now, the two eldest are married, and we have been blessed with three gorgeous grand children. I want couples to experience what I have, to share a wonderful life with the one you love and cherish, don’t get me wrong, there will always be challenges, marriage is a life long commitment, and at times requires compromise, it is a team effort, with both partners sharing the responsibilities, and supporting each other through what ever life throws at them. My wedding ring is the most valuable possession I own, not because of it monetary value, but because of what it stands for, and what it means to me,  and I hope I can help you to realise your dreams too.

I became a fully qualified and registered celebrant in July 2022 and am so pleased to have a busy 2023/24 . 2025 is shaping up to be busy, and I am excited that I will be able to bring so much more experience to those ceremonies.  Though I do wish more couple would take advantage of the calm of winter and choose to marry over those months. There are so many variations that a cooler temp can add to the wedding style.

Based in Tamworth , a great regional city, I am branching out to regional locations.

My Inspiration
I can’t believe it’s been over 17 years since I became a Marriage Celebrant. Time flies when you’re doing something you love!

The inspiration came from my experience of my own wedding with my husband, Graham. We knew we didn’t want a ‘cookie cutter’ wedding ceremony, so I wrote ours, especially for us. Our friends and family were so overwhelmingly positive, telling us afterwards that it was ‘the best wedding they’d ever been to’, it lit a fire in me. I realised I could help other couples have a totally unique experience on their own Wedding Day, and it set me on a completely new and exciting path in life.

Each and every time I’m invited to be part of a someone’s wedding day, it’s an honour and a privilege for me. Every ceremony reminds me of just how important a Wedding Day is the scheme of a couple’s life… just as ours was to us, 20 years ago!

I’m based in Samford Valley, a beautiful area of Brisbane, and the perfect spot to sit and create unique, handcrafted ceremonies. I’m happy to travel all around south-east Queensland and beyond for ceremonies, so please ask about my availability for your special day.

Firstly, congratulations on your engagement! My name is Katie and I’m an authorised marriage celebrant. I live in Rothwell on Brisbane’s north side, but have lived in Sydney nearly my whole life and am back down there very regularly. So I am available to conduct weddings within a 3 hour radius of each city but will travel further on request. I have had SO much fun planning my own wedding that I wanted to share the joy of that with other couples! And who better to start with than my own sister and now brother-in-law!
