Australian Marriage Celebrants Incorporated (AMC, we, us or our) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information when you use marriagecelebrants.org.au, contact AMC, join as a member, create or update a member profile, use Juno-powered website tools, or make an enquiry with an AMC celebrant.
This policy is intended to support AMC’s obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.
Who we are
Our website address is https://marriagecelebrants.org.au. AMC is a not-for-profit association supporting Australian marriage celebrants and helping couples find celebrants.
Personal information we collect
The kinds of personal information we may collect depend on how you interact with AMC. This may include:
- name, email address, phone number, postal address and other contact details;
- member account details, membership status, payment status, profile information, profile photos, service areas, languages, package information, offers, testimonials and other information a celebrant provides for their public AMC profile;
- couple enquiry details, such as wedding date, wedding location, message contents and the celebrant or celebrants contacted;
- Juno search selections, such as preferred location, budget range, celebrant style, gender preference, language preference and AMC offer preference;
- website behaviour information, such as pages viewed, searches submitted, result cards shown, profile clicks, quote clicks, saved celebrants, photo interactions, form interactions and referral or campaign information;
- technical information, such as IP address, device and browser information, approximate location, cookies, advertising identifiers, Facebook click identifiers, Meta browser identifiers, session identifiers and website logs;
- payment and transaction information, including membership plan, amount, currency and payment status. We do not store full payment card numbers on the AMC website;
- comments, forum posts, support requests, messages and other content you choose to submit; and
- information required by law, association administration, security, fraud prevention or dispute handling.
Please do not include sensitive information in free-text enquiry fields unless it is necessary for your request. If sensitive information is provided to us, we will handle it only for the purpose for which it was provided or as otherwise permitted by law.
How we collect information
We collect information directly from you when you complete forms, create or update an account, join AMC, submit a profile, make a payment, use Juno search, request a quote, contact AMC, comment on the website or participate in member areas. We also collect some information automatically through cookies, pixels, server logs, analytics tools and advertising measurement tools.
We may also receive limited information from service providers such as payment processors, analytics platforms, advertising platforms, email systems, security tools and website hosting providers.
How we use personal information
AMC may use personal information to:
- operate the AMC website, member portal, public celebrant directory and Juno-powered tools;
- help couples search for celebrants and send quote requests or enquiries to selected celebrants;
- administer memberships, renewals, payments, member benefits, insurance-related administration and association records;
- publish and promote public celebrant profiles where members have provided profile information for that purpose;
- respond to enquiries, support requests, complaints and privacy requests;
- send member communications, service notices, updates and marketing where permitted;
- measure advertising, improve campaigns, build remarketing audiences and understand which website interactions lead to enquiries or memberships;
- improve website content, search results, profile quality, usability, security and performance;
- generate aggregated or de-identified reporting about website use, campaign performance, Juno search behaviour and member profile performance;
- detect misuse, spam, fraud, security issues or technical problems; and
- comply with legal, regulatory, insurance, accounting and association governance obligations.
Juno search, matching and AI-assisted tools
AMC uses Juno-powered tools to help couples search for celebrants and to help AMC understand how the website is performing. Juno may use celebrant profile data, service areas, languages, offers, package information, public profile text, search selections and interaction data to rank, filter or suggest relevant celebrants.
Juno may also support AMC with internal reporting, profile quality insights, search behaviour analysis, support routing and website improvement. These tools are used to assist matching and service delivery. They do not replace the couple’s own choice of celebrant and are not used by AMC to make legal decisions about marriage eligibility.
Where AI or automation service providers are used to support Juno, information may be processed by those providers only for the relevant service purpose and subject to AMC’s configuration and provider terms.
Quote requests and celebrant enquiries
When you request a quote or send an enquiry through the AMC website, the information you provide may be sent to the selected celebrant so they can respond to you. Celebrants are independent service providers and are responsible for how they handle information once they receive an enquiry, subject to their own legal obligations and professional standards.
AMC may retain a record that an enquiry was sent, including relevant tracking, attribution and delivery information, so that we can measure performance, resolve issues and improve the service.
Website analytics, pixels and advertising measurement
We use cookies, pixels and similar technologies, including Google Analytics/Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity, Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API, to understand how visitors use this website, improve pages, measure advertising performance and show more relevant advertising.
These tools may collect or receive information such as page URLs, device and browser details, IP address, approximate location, interactions with pages, forms and links, advertising identifiers, Meta click identifiers, Meta browser identifiers, event names, event IDs and campaign information. Microsoft Clarity may help us understand interactions such as scrolling, clicks and page use.
For Meta Conversions API and advertising measurement, AMC may send event information from our server to Meta. Depending on the event, this may include browser information, IP address, Meta identifiers, event source URL, event ID, content category, selected celebrant, quote/search event details, and hashed contact details such as email address, phone number or name where you provide those details. Hashing helps Meta match events without AMC sending the plain text contact detail to Meta for that matching field.
We do not intentionally send payment card details or the full contents of enquiry messages through advertising tracking. Advertising platforms may use information in accordance with their own privacy policies and settings.
You can manage cookies in your browser and through controls offered by Google, Microsoft and Meta. To opt out of AMC’s Meta ads measurement on this browser, use this Meta ads opt-out link. To re-enable it on this browser, use this opt-in link.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use cookies and similar technologies for login sessions, website security, remembering preferences, analytics, advertising measurement and service improvement. If you visit our login page, the website may set temporary cookies to check whether your browser accepts cookies. When you log in, cookies may be used to save login information and screen preferences. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some website features may not work properly without them.
Comments, media and embedded content
If you leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and technical information such as IP address and browser user agent to help spam detection. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download and extract location data from images displayed on the website.
Pages may include embedded content from other websites, such as videos, images, maps, social media posts or articles. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly. Those websites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information to:
- AMC committee members, authorised volunteers, contractors and service providers who need it to perform AMC work;
- celebrants selected by a couple when a quote request or enquiry is submitted;
- website hosting, security, backup, email, CRM, payment, analytics, advertising, AI, reporting and technical service providers;

- another organisation involved in the operation, restructure or transfer of AMC services, where permitted by law.
Overseas disclosure and service providers
Some of the providers we use operate globally. Personal information may be processed or stored outside Australia, including in countries where providers such as Meta, Google, Microsoft, Stripe, email providers, hosting providers or AI service providers operate. These countries may include the United States, countries in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Singapore and other locations used by those providers.
Public member profiles and search engines
AMC member profiles are designed to promote member celebrants to couples and may be publicly accessible. Public profile information may be indexed by search engines, shared on social media, displayed in Juno search results and used in AMC marketing or reporting. Members should only include information, images and testimonials they are authorised to publish.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including website operation, membership administration, association records, legal and accounting obligations, enquiry handling, security, dispute resolution, reporting and service improvement. Member records may need to be retained to meet incorporated association, accounting, insurance or governance requirements. Aggregated or de-identified analytics may be retained for longer.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps may include access controls, secure hosting, password protection, software updates, backups, security monitoring and limiting access to people who need information for AMC purposes. No internet transmission or online storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Access, correction and deletion requests
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete information where deletion is legally and operationally possible. If you have an account, you can update much of your profile information through your account area. Some information may need to be retained for legal, administrative, security, accounting or dispute resolution purposes.
Complaints and contact
If you have a privacy question, access or correction request, or complaint, contact AMC at secretary@marriagecelebrants.org.au.
We will consider privacy complaints and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be published on this website with the date it was last updated.
