My professional background is that I was a senior manager for St George Bank for many years before leaving to become a mum. In 2013 I became a registered marriage celebrant, which is a career I had always wanted to have. I have lots of great ideas to help make your day special. I am a great listener, which I believe is the most important thing for a celebrant to be. At the end of the day it is your wedding and what you want is the most important thing. Having said that, there is the legal side, which I take very seriously. I will do my very best to make sure your day is exactly what you want. I officiate Weddings, Commitment Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows and Naming Ceremonies. I have a Certificate IV in Celebrancy  and successfully completed “Life Celebrations Civil Celebrancy Course”. I continue to educate myself with ongoing personal development courses.

Articulate, approachable and charismatic, Andrew brings a natural, relaxed and fun vibe to ceremonies …. big or small … public or private …. and ensures that there will be as many laughs and smiles as there are moving moments.

Marriage registration in Australia is quite different from the process in China. As many people know, couples in China can simply visit the Civil Affairs Bureau, complete the necessary paperwork, and receive their marriage certificate on the same day.

In Australia, however, couples must lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before the wedding ceremony, and no more than 18 months in advance. This can be done either through an authorized Marriage Celebrant or through the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Registering your marriage through a Marriage Celebrant carries the same legal validity as registering directly with the government. However, when you register through us, you have far greater flexibility in choosing the time and location of your ceremony. We also provide Chinese-language marriage registration services and bilingual wedding ceremonies (English & Chinese), ensuring that both you and your guests can fully enjoy and understand every special moment of your celebration.

The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) is a formal declaration of your intention to marry. Once the NOIM has been lodged, you may choose your preferred date, time, and venue for a legally valid wedding ceremony when working with a Marriage Celebrant. Government registry ceremonies typically offer limited flexibility, and even if you submit your NOIM more than one month in advance, there is no guarantee that your preferred date will be available.

After the NOIM is submitted, there is a mandatory one-month waiting period before the wedding ceremony can legally take place. The ceremony cannot be conducted during this waiting period.

If the marriage has not taken place within 18 months of lodging the NOIM, the notice will automatically expire. If either party, or both parties, decide not to proceed with the marriage, they may notify the Marriage Celebrant at any time to cancel the NOIM. Please refer to the official registration guidelines for further details.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DELIVERING CEREMONIES WELL.

I cannot boast youth and beauty, but if you want a celebrant with experience and dedication, I might just be the celebrant for you. The substance of the ceremony, and especially the personal story and vows, should be totally authentic for the couple. I believe in onsite rehearsals and the careful planning of the readings, the proper introduction of participants, and the clear delineation of different components of the ceremony (including poetry, stories, myths, and moving prose). Of special importance is the music in ceremonies, how it is broadcast, and how it is presented to the assembled guests. The celebrant needs to research and discuss with the client all the components of the ceremony, and focus on clear delivery and an effective PA system where required.

By the way, I never stand between the bride and groom.

SHORT BUT MEANINGFUL CEREMONIES

Even though I believe in ceremonies as events that send powerful messages, I also recognise that, for special reasons, some couples opt for short but meaningful ceremonies.

FUNERALS
There is no such thing as a short cut to a good funeral. Every element—prose, poetry, symbolism, choreography, introductions, reminiscences by family and friends, the committal, and music should be carefully prepared and checked. Above all, the eulogy, the central element, should be thoughtfully composed and checked. This responsible process is very “labor-intensive”; -sufficient time is required. The only fair way to pay the celebrant is by an out-of-hours hourly rate.
