To become a member, you must meet the following criteria and agree to the stated conditions:

Eligibility: You must be either a registered Marriage Celebrant or a Celebrant student awaiting appointment.

Internet Access: You must have internet access and appropriate personal/professional email addresses.

Ongoing Professional Development (OPD): You must complete ongoing OPD requirements as per the AG’s guidelines. (Note: “AG” likely refers to the Attorney-General or the governing body overseeing marriage celebrants.)

Code of Conduct: You must accept and abide by the AMC Code of Conduct, which is a strict condition of membership.

Breach of Terms and Conditions or Code of Conduct: If a member is found to have breached the Terms and Conditions of Membership or the AMC Code of Conduct, their membership could be suspended, and disciplinary action may be taken.

AMC’s Rights: AMC reserves the right to change or delete any content within a member’s profile that is considered inappropriate or in breach of the Terms and Conditions of Membership or the AMC Code of Conduct.

Deletion of Postings: AMC also has the right to delete any postings to any members’ forum that are deemed inappropriate or in violation of the Terms and Conditions of Membership or the AMC Code of Conduct.

Indemnification: Each member agrees to indemnify the AMC against any actions raised against either them or the AMC caused by the member’s actions or any content contained in their member profile or any website or social media site associated with their AMC profile.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc.:

Membership Fees

General Policy: Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc. does not typically allow for the refund of membership fees.

Application Process: All requests for a refund of membership fees must be submitted in writing.

Approval Process: The Executive of Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc. will assess all refund applications, and approval from the Executive is required for the refund to be processed.

Outcome Communication: Members will be informed of the decision regarding their refund request in writing.

Refund Policy for AMC Conferences/OPD Events

Event Cancellation: If a member has paid for attendance to an AMC function that gets canceled, they will receive a full refund.

Non-Attendance Refund: Members who were unable to attend an AMC-hosted Conference or Ongoing Professional Development (OPD) event and wish to request a refund must do so in writing to the Secretary of Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc.

Timeframe for Refund Request: Depending on the timing of the refund request, different refund percentages apply:

  • 100% refund may be approved up to 30 working days from the date of the event, based on individual circumstances.
  • 50% refund may be approved up to 15 working days from the date of the event, based on individual circumstances.
  • Refund requests made within 15 working days from the date of the event will generally not be eligible for a refund, except in cases where the AMC Executive exercises absolute discretion.

Please note that the cancellation and refund policy applies specifically to membership fees and participation in AMC conferences/OPD events. Any other situations not covered in this policy may be subject to different terms and conditions.
