A rehearsal is not legally required—but it can be helpful.

Rehearsals are a great way to:

  • Calm nerves and build confidence

  • Walk through the order of events (processional, vows, signing, exit)

  • Clarify where everyone stands and what to expect

  • Test music timing, microphones, or any special moments (e.g. rituals or readings)

Whether you have 2 guests or 200, a rehearsal helps everything feel smooth and relaxed on the big day.

When is a rehearsal a good idea?

  • If you have a large bridal party or multiple speakers

  • If your ceremony includes choreography, music cues, or cultural rituals

  • If you’re using a unique venue layout (like a beach, clifftop, or garden path)

Your AMC celebrant can let you know whether a rehearsal is recommended based on your plans—and many offer it as part of their service or as an optional add-on.
